The Physics of Craft: Woodworking

A lifelong passion for hands-on creation, beginning at age five, led me to explore the science, precision, and creativity behind woodworking. Over the years, I’ve designed and built numerous wooden pieces, from race cars and airplanes to flowers and even a nativity set built entirely from scratch.

This passion grew into leadership when I served as an Assistant Teacher at Duchesne Academy’s Summer Woodworking Camp, guiding 15 children through the process of designing, cutting, assembling, and painting their own wooden creations. I helped campers understand the beauty of bringing ideas into form, combining patience, spatial reasoning, and a maker’s mindset.

Woodworking taught me how physics, design, and art intersect, and how teaching others multiplies that joy.
